December 2020 updates

Happy Holidays to everyone!  I wish for health and happiness to everyone and a much better and brighter new year.  Projects continue to get pushed back until the new year but some are still on course.  Looking forward to getting out of 2020.  

 

Sleep number is building a free standing store in front of the Waldorf Shoppers World next to Chipotle.

Rosewick Crossing Shopping Center has added Royal Furniture and London Kay Hair Salon to their list of tenants.  The Salon is already open.

Kaiser Permanente has purchased 23 acres in waldorf for a new 100,000 square foot medical facility.

It will be located near the corner of Billingsley road and Crain Highway behind the AutoZone.

The center will have primary care, specialty care, and urgent care. There will also be a pharmacy,  labs and diagnostic imaging. The center will employ 300 staff members, including new hires.

The first phase will open in early 2025.

Ka'ribbean Fire restaurant coming soon to the La Plata Plaza Shopping Center. Specializing in Caribbean and soul food. They will be located in the former Urban BBQ space behind Five Guys. 13 Shining Willow Way.

The former CVS Pharmacy on Route 210 in Indian Head will be redeveloped into a bomb disposal technology training campus.

November 2020 Updates

I cant wait for the upcoming holidays.  Not a fan of the cold and often wet weather.  I'm also not a fan of it being darker when I leave the office.

Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe.  Interested to see what this month brings us.

Cedar Point Federal Credit Union has purchased land across from Target in Waldorf on Western Parkway for a new office.  They plan to open mid 2021.

Five Below is now open in Prince Frederick in the Fox Run Shopping Center.

We have been in contact with the owners of the former Lonestar restaurant on the mall circle and they are proceeding with a middle eastern restaurant.  Still a long way to go to get it up and running.

Arby’s Waldorf grand opening November 9th in the St. Charles Town Plaza shopping center next to Crafty Crab and Burger King. 1130 Smallwood Drive. 

Ledo's Pizza is now open at the corner of Piney Church Road and Billingsley road in White Plains.

11664 Billingsley Road.

Taco Bell will take over the former KFC on Great Mills Road.  No opening date is known.  

October 2020 Updates

The Fall season is here.  Cooler temperatures.  Leaves to clean up.  Please be kind to one another.  

If you want to see a business in the area please message that business and tell them you want them here.  It's better to hear from the consumer.  Not an agent trying to fill space.

Here's what's new.. 

Dollar Tree Grand Opening October 3rd in the Waldorf Shoppers World next to Harbor Freight and Aldi.

Green Turtle Grand Opening October 5th at the Wildewood Shopping Center in California, MD

Row House is planning to open late October in the St. Mary's Marketplace in California, MD

Mariachis II Tequileria and Restaurant will take over the former Applebee's in Waldorf.

More information as they get closer to an opening date.

There is a new 7-11 being built in White Plains at the corner of Willetts crossing and Crain Highway.

There is some work being done to the former Lonestar steakhouse on the mall circle in Waldorf.  When we sold it two years ago it was planned for a middle eastern restaurant.  The building required a lot of work.  I have not been able to find out yet if the same use is happening now or not.  stay tuned.

Grand opening for Vocelli Pizza will be October 28th at the La Plata Village Shopping Center.  56 Drury Drive, La Plata.

September 2020 Updates

Its gotten busy! The months just seem to run together now. I'm forgetting to start the new months updates! There has been a real influx of calls for people looking for spaces.  Its a good time.  However we have lost a few businesses to the whole virus thing.  Hopefully we will gain some new and different businesses in the future.  

Which brings me to an old topic.  Everyone keeps asking for new and better grocery stores like Wegmans.

The reason we can not get them is due to our lower population and the fact that somewhere around 60% of our workforce leaves the area.  Wegmans depends on that lunchtime crowd.  They have a large market cafe with quick service food.  If no one is there to eat lunch they feel the area would not be right for them.  If you look at our area restaurants you don't usually have any wait time to sit down.  That's not good.  Why would a restaurant come here when no one is eating lunch?  Its very hard to just depend on dinner crowds.

Rock and Toss Crab House coming soon to the Shops at Waldorf in the former Genghis Grill space.  It is a  Cajun style sea food restaurant.  No word on an opening date.  They have another location currently in Bowie, MD

Speaking of the Shops at Waldorf, Panera is going to move over to their own stand alone building next to the Silver Diner.  I believe they plan to have a drive thru as well.  No word on when that move will take place.

In the Brandywine shopping area near Chadds ford has some construction going on.  There will be a few more pad sites for individual stores and perhaps a small strip center.

Royal Farms is now open on Moores Road in Brandywine.

August 2020 Updates

Hello August.  There has not been much to talk about.  Lots of activity in the commercial world but not too many things opening this month.  It also does not help when Facebook and this blog site changes the setups and you have to relearn where everything is on the page.  Good times.  #choosekindness

We are now at stage three in Maryland

Crafty Crab Seafood is now open in Waldorf in the former Hard times Cafe location.

The former Scheible's Fishing Camp in Ridge, MD St. Mary's County is being renovated into a hospitality destination with restaurant, motel, shops and recreation area.  The restaurant called POV will open very soon.  The Quarters Motel is now open. Check out their web page and facebook:

Horizon Family Dental Care is now open at 5 Shining Willow Way in La Plata next to Five Guys.

 

 

Burger M now open in the Rosewick Crossing Shopping Center next to Sweet Frog.

Third Eye Comics is opening September 26th in the Pinefield Shopping Center on Mattawoman Drive in Waldorf.  This is their fourth location.

 

Five Below coming soon to the Fox Run Shopping Center in Prince Frederick next to Planet Fitness. They will be located in the former K Mart space which is being cut up into smaller units.

Quickway Japanese Hibachi coming soon to the Shops at Waldorf behind the Mission BBQ in Waldorf.
