Habit Burger Coming to Waldorf

The Habit Burger Grill will be opening a new location in the Shops at Waldorf Center next to the Men's Warehouse in the former Blockbuster location.  Look for an opening by the end of the year. 
"The Habit Burger Grill is a burger-centric, fast casual restaurant concept that specializes in preparing fresh, made-to-order chargrilled burgers and sandwiches featuring USDA choice tri-tip steak, grilled chicken and sushi-grade albacore tuna cooked over an open flame. In addition, it features fresh made-to-order salads and an appealing selection of sides, shakes and malts. The Habit was named the “best tasting burger in America” in July 2014 in a comprehensive survey conducted by one of America’s leading consumer magazines. The first Habit opened in Santa Barbara, California in 1969. The Habit has since grown to over 190 restaurants in 10 states throughout California, Arizona, Utah, New Jersey, Florida, Idaho, Virginia, Nevada, Washington and Maryland as well as two international locations."  This will be the third location in Maryland.

New Medical Care Center Opening Soon

Righttime Medical Care has taken over the former Red Hot and Blue location at 3350 Crain Highway.  They are an urgent care facility that is open from 7 am to midnight 365 days a year.  Righttime has been in business for 25 years and serves children and adults.  They plan to open early spring 2016. 

New Businesses at Waldorf Marketplace

Fusion Dental and Navy Federal Credit have both opened this month at Waldorf Marketplace.  There is another lease pending so I will update as I get information.

New retail centers on Crain Highway

 Just some updates on projects on Crain Highway in the Waldorf area.  Above is what we are going to be turning the old American Hardware into this year.  Construction will begin in a few months.  They will be gutting, refacing and adding to the building for a total of around 15,000 square feet.  It should be ready by the end of the year.  Already have a few tenants lined up.

This project is a new retail center closer to Pinefield.   This was the old thrift store next to Mr. Tire that had burned down.  This one is closer to completion but no word on any tenants yet.  Updates as we get them.  I like to see old buildings re purposed  rather than building new but sometimes the cost to do it is way to high.

Sonic Waldorf

The Sonic for Waldorf will go at the corner of Route 301 South and Mattawoman Drive in Pinefield.
This is the location of the old Exxon station.  It will have to go thru a approval process to do the drive thru.  It will take a year or so to go thru the system so its not a completely done deal just yet.  Another location is planned in Charles County.  Updates as I get them.

UPDATE 12/11/14 - Sonic drive thru approved by county for Waldorf location.

UPDATE 1/8/15 - Sonic will have two drive thru lanes and indoor seating.  Projected opening is Fall 2015.

UPDATE 7/30/15 - construction should start September 2015
 
UPDATE 10/8/15 - Clearing of the former gas station has begun.

UPDATE 12/2/15 - Site has been cleared and they are shooting for a early 2016 opening.  They are now hiring on the sonic website.

More tenants coming to Shops at Waldorf

Some shifting of tenants and new ones coming soon to the Shops at Waldorf.  Party City is moving to the other end of the building they are currently in for a little more exposure.  They will also take more space.  MyEyeDr is moving in next to Panera and ATI Physical Therapy is taking over the former Jennifer furniture space near Modell's.  More tenants coming soon.

Peruvian chicken restaurants on the way

One of the new things we have got calls for is Peruvian chicken locations.  We now have two coming soon.  Waku chicken will be going into the Pinefield south shopping center in place of Yums Buffet.  The second called Chicken Rico will occupy the former Einsteins Bagels in Waldorf Shoppers world.  Einsteins is relocating to the Brandywine Crossing Shopping Center in Phase 2 that is under construction now.  Always good to have new and different choices in dining.

Jimmy John's Now Open!

Jimmy John's is now open in Waldorf, MD.  They are located at 2481 Crain Highway next to Popeye's in a strip center with 7-11.   Call 240–210-8227 for orders.

The Shops at Waldorf Updates

Just a few things that are happening at the Shops at Waldorf Center.  Sweet Thing Black Orchid Bakery and Five Below will be joining the center.  Five below will be located next to Bob's Furniture and The Bakery will be next to Cafe Rio.  Construction is underway.

Waldorf Station

A project in Waldorf that was put on the back burner for a while showed up at a recent convention we went to.  Chaney Enterprises is working once again on their Waldorf Station project.  This project involves a large portion of the Pinefield area and will incorporate the proposed lightrail project that will connect to the Branch Ave. Metro station and end in White Plains.  They would like to make it a transportation hub at the entrance to Charles County.  Included in the project are commercial and residential areas with open green areas for recreation and parks.  It will also have a park and ride and an extention of Western Parkway.  No word on when it will get started, there is still alot of planning to go.  You can see the project here: www.waldorfstation.com

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

Menchie's frozen yogurt is coming to the Waldorf Marketplace next to DSW Shoes and Bath and Body Works.  They currently have over 230 stores worldwide.  No opening date has been set.

Jimmy John's Coming to Waldorf

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches will be locating to Waldorf in the Holly Center near Lowes and Popeyes.  This will be the first location for the Southern Maryland area.  There are currently 1,200 stores open.

Planet Fitness

Planet Fitness will be opening their doors in November at the Charles County Plaza.  They will be located next to Chuck E Cheese.  A great way to burn off all that pizza.

New retail updates

New shops are popping up at the Shops at Waldorf.  First to open is the Ulta Beauty store located near Christmas tree shops.  Cafe Rio will be opening June 30th and Genghis Grill and Sweet frog frozen yogurt will come in the near future.  Construction is underway for the Charming Charlie womens accessory retailer.  Genghis Grille will take over the former Chuck E Cheese which officially opens on June 18th at the Charles County Plaza.  Sweet Frog is currently planned to move in next to Ledo's Pizza.  More details as we get them.

UPDATE:  Staples will be moving over between Babies R Us and Ulta and Charming Charlie will be between Ulta and Christmas tree shops.   Jennifer Furniture will be leaving.  No word on what is happening with the Staples space.

World of Wings has found a new owner and is set to reopen Thursday at the Waldorf Marketplace.  This is the fourth WoW location in Maryland.

Headhunting for new retailers

This Tuesday and Wednesday we are at the National Harbor going after new tenants for Southern Maryland.  The Mid Atlantic Conference and Deal Making session is a smaller version of the 4 day Las Vegas ICSC Convention in May.  We will also be representing Southern Maryland at that event.  We walk acres of prospective tenants to find out who is interested in coming to our area.  It's a great way to network and keep up our knowledge of new trends and retailers while bringing new tenants to our area.

Holly Tree Center and other updates

I figure an update is in order as things wind down in 2011 so here are a few things that I have been asked about.
Holly Tree Center shown above is a retail center on route 301 next to Popeye's that should start seeing its tenants begin space construction next month.  The tenants currently lined up are from left to right: Dairy Queen Ice Cream, Nail Salon, Women's wig and hair accessories, Benny's and 7-11.  There is one more space available.

There is a building going up on Rt 925 just south of Pembrooke center.  That will be a doctors office which should be complete by spring.

Community Bank is mid construction on their admin building located behind their current building near the corner of 301 and route 5.

The new Waldorf library next to Boston's will be complete by July 2012

Laugh out loud center will be replaced by Chuck E Cheese and a fitness center at Charles County Plaza

In La Plata, the Chipotle will open around March 1st and will be joined by Sweet Frog frozen yogurt.

Not Dunkin Donuts but 7-11

The old Friendly's location on Crain Highway and Holly Lane next to Raleys Furniture will not become a Dunkin' Donuts as I was informed.  Renovations are currently underway for a 7-11 store.  We can expect an opening sometime this winter.  There is another 7-11 store set to open in the small strip center next to Popeye's as well along with some other tenants I will mention in another post shortly.  Thank you to my followers for the update.
