November 2024 Updates

November is a transitional month, often marked by the deepening chill of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. Trees stand bare against the gray skies, and a sense of quiet settles in as nature prepares for winter. In many cultures, November is a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance, often highlighted by holidays like Thanksgiving.  I've always been a fan of Thanksgiving because its one of the main times you get all the family together.  Unfortunately over the years our family gatherings get smaller as kids grow up and move, or have to share time with their in-laws, or our elders pass away and we lose that glue that holds us all together.  It really sucks.  So please get your family together as much as you can.  Share special times, tell stories and make memories.

And since its election time please go vote.

"There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people, religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin." -Linus VanPelt

I've now set the comments to google account users only.  Because I'm not going to sit and deal with having to moderate to everyone's liking and getting crap for it.  I don't have the time or crayons to deal with it. I have a job to do.

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market has signed on at the Wildewood Center in California, MD.  It will take over the former Bed Bath and Beyond space.  They have 480 locations across 10 states.  Each store is independently owned and operated.
Zaxby's is starting construction on their Waldorf location next to the Red Robin at Waldorf Marketplace.  No word on a finish date.
Tia's Cantina is showing an opening date of December 16th.  23415 Three Notch Road, Suite 2060.  Located in front of the Wildewood Center.

Thank you for the Linus quote and all you do to keep us informed! Is there an update on the Kaiser Permanente medical campus. Construction was supposed to be near 301 and Billingsley and the projected completion of phase one was supposed to be sometime during 2025. Thank you for any update you arr able to provide.

Construction on first phase should start sometime in 2025 and they want to be open in 2026

Thanks Chris! I’ve been following this blog since college in 2014. After earning my second degree in 2018, I finally got the courage to move a thousand miles from Florida to Maryland. Now, eight years later, my family and I are settled here, and it’s the only place our kids know. Thanks for everything you do, this blog is our main source for what’s current in Southern Maryland.

Rumor mill says a gym and office space is going in at old Shoppers Charlotte Hall. Any truth in that?

I see fencing around the old capital one building next to 7 -11 in waldorf marketplace. Are they still putting Zaxby’s there or has that plan changed?

Chris Shasho said...

As far as I know Zaxby's is still coming. Good to see some progress.

What’s sad is you probably call yourself a Christian. You should read Matthew 7:15-23 then read Galatians 5. I can only go by your fruit and comments like this don’t represent Christ. Maybe you’re happy on the wide road that leads to destruction. Hell’s pretty hot, you might want to change direction before it’s too late.

Who are you talking to?

Anonymous said...

Moron who clearly doesn’t understand the dire need for workforce housing.

Anonymous said...

The reference to section 8 housing is clearly a stereotyping caricature style comment that's not helpful in this forum and/or someone who's seriously lacking, with all the bad grammar. Chris these types of comments need to be moderated or removed.

Agreed. The front page of this blog indicates comments are moderated. There's no excuse to allow these blatantly racist stereotypes to be posted.

If the comments are indeed moderated then posting them is tacit approval of the content. These comments have been allowed to be posted for far too long.

Anonymous said...

Since when is Section 8 being mentioned racist? Cannot all races qualify for section 8 if necessary? I'm personally tired of everyone constantly throwing the race card around. Turn off the comments completely if you want to make it better.

Are there any plans to revitalize St. Charles Town Centre other than the Community Rec Complex that is being put where Sears was?

Anonymous said...

What is the likelihood of Waldorf getting an At Home store since we have so many new homes in the area?

Anonymous said...

You know we in the hood when we’re getting a grocery outlet smh

Anonymous said...

Lmfao!!!!! Good thing it’s all the way in California!! Also at least it’s not a Save-A-Lot…THAT’S when you need to pack up and head out, FAST!!! 🤣🤣😂😂

Anonymous said...

Chris. All these people talking about the "hood" are racist. You should moderate more... We all equal, stop letting people stereotype.

Anonymous said...

Actually not racist at all. Just speaking facts! Have you EVER seen a SAVE A LOT in a middle class or upper middle class area??!!!!!!!! I used to live in those communities and unfortunately they put those subpar grocery disgraces in those areas which is sad but a clear indication of that area.

Chris please take notice the ignorant posts are Anonymous???? Without you we wouldn't know what was going on real estate wise in SoMD thanks !!

I have seen and shopped at Save A Lot store in Frostburg. They also have a Weis. I dont consider that area one that deals with subpar shopping.

Put the cards back in the deck!! This blog is an informative place. Chris does a fantastic job letting us know about things going where. If you wanna talk S*** and get butt hurt go someplace else!

Chris I saw in the paper on Friday in the Public Notices that a couple of places are starting the first of their many approvals to build. Down toward Newburg 9200 block of Crain Hwy a WaWa, and over on Indian Head Hwy a Royal Farms wants to build, forgot the cross street.

Chris Shasho said...

Not that I'm aware of

Chris Shasho said...

Yes they have been in the works for a while. Waiting for approvals to be complete before I mention anymore.

Chris Shasho said...

They are huge stores so its not likely. We don't have anywhere to put them and everyone complains about too many vacant stores.

Chris Shasho said...

So is ghetto racist too? Because everyone of all races throws that word around on facebook about the area. I got better things to do then deal with this crap.

Chris Shasho said...

I'm putting the comment settings on google account user comments only. I don't have time for this stuff I have a job to do and these blogs take up time where I'm not making money.
