You should see all of the listed Food Lions change over to the Weiss brand by October 2016.
Weis currently operates 162 stores in five states.

According to a Union facebook page the Giant Stores are not selling so they will not close.

What about the Food Lion in Waldorf? Will it be switching to Weis too?

No the Waldorf locations are not changing according to the press release.

Will they switch the other Food Lion stores over to Giant in the longer term? Giant tends to be a stronger brand for creature comforts.

I do not believe they will do that.

I thought earlier reports were that the Giant at Rosewick would close or be sold. Is that accurate?

There was talk about it because they were owned by the same group as food lion but according to the unions the giant was not going to be sold.

They need to make use of the empty shopping center down Rte 210 in Indian Head MD next to the Dollar General... we have to go all the way to Accokeek to the Safeway or Food Lion (10 min ride) to get real groceries otherwise most just use the Dollar General for quick items. Maybe they can look into that since the store has a lease sign in front of it??
