Not Dunkin Donuts but 7-11

The old Friendly's location on Crain Highway and Holly Lane next to Raleys Furniture will not become a Dunkin' Donuts as I was informed.  Renovations are currently underway for a 7-11 store.  We can expect an opening sometime this winter.  There is another 7-11 store set to open in the small strip center next to Popeye's as well along with some other tenants I will mention in another post shortly.  Thank you to my followers for the update.

Are you serious? That will make 3 on 301 in Waldorf. I can see a krispy kreme for variety sake. But I wish them all the best. Thanks for the info.

Thats what I heard from the county office, I was suprised too. Maybe they are getting a mcdonalds complex.

I won't complain. I guess its better to have something than a vacant building. It may actually generate alot of customers due to its location.

It always amazes me how Waldorf always gets things in multiples when we don't have one of others! Like there are 2 Wendy's close to each other but not in the St. Charles area, or how there are 2 Bob Evan's restaurants. I get sometimes there is demand for things like Dunkin Donut's it just surprises me at the inconsistency. Is there any word about something going in at the St. Charles Towne Plaza where that gas station used to be, next to Burger King. Seems like that's a prime location for another fast food place that isn't in the St. Charles portion - like a KFC or Wendys or something similar.

I get tired of driving to the other end of Waldorf for KFC; not a big fan of Popeyes. So St.Charles Towne Plaza would be a great location beside the burger king. But the mall owners need to renovate that entire shopping center; it is looking very dated.

Some companies are scared to go off the main highway. We literally have to shove them in the car and show them all the rooftops off the main road where the people live. Some companies understand better after the tour and some only see the numbers they pull from there data. Its like the cracker barrel, they are a company that lives off interstates, but you get them in the car and show them the area and they build here.
The Towne Plaza is another place that needs a total facelift. Unfortunately Simon company owns it and they are not as easy to work with as a local owner. I dont think the main people at simon have been down in quite a while and has seen what this place looks like now. If they can fix the mall they should fix this center too. We had a deal working on that former gas station land for a fast food retailer but they could not come to an agreement in price.

At some point the county officials are going to have to start making requests of companies like Simon to improve/update their properties. The Shops at Waldorf Center have done a great job and I am more inclined to shop there and the Waldorf Marketplace. The St.Charles Towne Plaza looks very low class. Saul Centers did a wonderful job renovating Smallwood Shopping Center; it was dark and damp before and now it has a little more life. I have alot of friends who are now looking to buy new homes in Waldorf who before told me the traffic was too bad. But with the low cost of new houses and the appeal of all the restaurants/stores, good schools and low crime they reconsidered. Their shopping habits tend more towards Pentagon City & Annapolis so if the shopping center owners can get the right types of stores that appeal to adults who make over $100K there will definitely be a customer base.

Honestly Waldorf Marketplace is miles ahead of all the other retail. All of the centers look outdated. Honestly Shops at Waldorf doesn't look good since they partially redid some minor things. Its embarassing to see 2 or 3 stores with some different facade and then stop. I understand it didn't make economic sense to go through but they shouldn't have done anything. At least St Charles Towne Plaza looks consistent throughout. Shoppers World is the worst as (other than its newer big box stores) the entire center looks like it hasn't changed since the 1970's. Its too bad everything is scattered as there isn't any integration. Too many stores went in wherever there was space (or just bought land and set up wherever) and the county never tried to come up with a plan of any kind. With everything being in different places it makes traffic a lot worse.

I think shopping centers should have to update after a certain timeframe, I believe that shoppers world had their last reface around 89-90. Some of the shops at waldorf reface was done probably out of convenience due to blockbuster downsizing and hh gregg moving in. I just received word that the shopping center behind longhorn in waldorf will start renovations in November.

Are you sure it's a Dunkin? Looks like different color than normal.

That's what the county told me.

Drove by today, November 3rd and there is a 7/11 sign on the former Friendly's.

7-11 is going in at the old Friendly's. Perhaps Dunkin Donuts is going in at that new center by Popeye's? Either way the signage went up today.

Also any word yet on a new tenant for the theatre at Brandywine crossing yet?

My sister saw signs on it for a 7-11 today.

I drove past earlier tonite and there is a 7-11 sign on the green awning. Looks like you were misinformed by the county.

Thanks for the updates everyone I appreciate it. I was on my way up there to take a look but got to busy. I guess the county can make a mistake once in a while.

I actually prefer the 7-11 over the Dunkin Donuts. This is a good spot.
