Buca di Beppo Coming To The Mall

There had been some talk for over a year but I confirmed today that Buca di Beppo will finally be coming to the St. Charles Town Center Mall.  It will be located across from Ruby Tuesday's.  They have over 90 locations across the United States.  Look for an opening this summer.

Mexico Restaurant is now open in their new location at 10598 Charles Crossing Dr. in White Plains, MD

Just a friendly reminder

The Department of Assessments and Taxation wants to provide an important reminder to all

homeowners that they only have until December 31, 2012 to file the Application for Homestead Tax

Credit Eligibility to continue to be qualified for this property tax credit that limits the amount of

assessment on which a homeowner actually pays taxes on his or her principal residence. Over the past

five years, the Department has mailed the Homestead application on two separate occasions to every

homeowner in the State either in their new Assessment Notice or by a separate mailing. To date, over

850,000 homeowners statewide have filed their Homestead application.

To find out if you have already filed the one-time application in the past five years, you should go

the Department’s website at www.dat.state.md.us and click on “Real Property Data Search”. You will

click on the County name were your property is located and enter the Street address. A page on your

property will be displayed, and you look across the bottom of the page to see if you submitted the

Homestead application.

If you have not submitted the application, the form will be mailed to you if you send an e-mail to

hcredit@dat.state.md.us requesting it. Be sure to include in your e-mail your street address for the

property and the specific County where the property is located. The application form will include your Property Account Number and special “Access Number” that will enable you to file the form

electronically and receive back an e-mail confirmation receipt. If you mail the form to the Department, you will not receive a confirmation receipt.

Genghis Grill Grand Opening

Genghis Grill Waldorf location will open on Tuesday November 13th!  It is located in the former Chuck E Cheese space at the Shops at Waldorf.

Fuddruckers Coming to Brandywine

Fuddruckers has signed on as the next tenant for Brandywine Crossing Shopping Center.  They will be located in phase 2 which is currently under construction.  We expect a late 2013 opening time but will keep you posted as usual as things progress.  Other tenants include Hershey's Ice Cream, Philly Flash, Wing Heaven, Mc Donald's, Cheddar's, Xscape Theatre, Car Max, and more to come.

Mom's Organic Grocery has set a grand opening for November 9, 10 & 11 in Waldorf, MD

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

Menchie's frozen yogurt is coming to the Waldorf Marketplace next to DSW Shoes and Bath and Body Works.  They currently have over 230 stores worldwide.  No opening date has been set.

Jimmy John's Coming to Waldorf

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches will be locating to Waldorf in the Holly Center near Lowes and Popeyes.  This will be the first location for the Southern Maryland area.  There are currently 1,200 stores open.

Charlotte Hall Station

The new Charlotte Hall Station has broke ground and are working on leasing space.  McKay's Grocery store will anchor the 100,000 square foot center.  There will be pad sites available for freestanding tenants as well as inline stores.  Details to come.




UPDATE 9-3-2015  No word on when the project may start up again.  Perhaps when some leases get signed.

Planet Fitness

Planet Fitness will be opening their doors in November at the Charles County Plaza.  They will be located next to Chuck E Cheese.  A great way to burn off all that pizza.

Roys is Back!

 

Guess who's back in town?  Roy Rogers has finally begun renovations to the old Arby's in La Plata.  Changes should take a few months and then everyone will be back to enjoying there Double R Burgers and Roast Beef Sandwiches!  Unfortunately it's not the same family that will be running it as before but I think the end results will still make everyone in the area happy.  As I get info on an opening day I will keep you posted as usual.

Charles County Planning Commission Public Hearing September 24th 7:00 pm

The State and County governments are taking our property rights and land value!

Please come out and voice your opposition to the county’s staff recommended septic tier map that will drastically downzone potentially 200,000 acres of the County by not allowing any more major subdivisions within those 200,000 acres.

Show that the citizens of Charles County will not stand for loss of land value, jobs, and quality of life.

Please consider speaking out at the hearing and or being there to support this effort. Invite your friends, neighbors, and employees, to fight and preserve the property owner’s rights we currently have.

This is about property rights. Most of the property that the state and county want to put into the tier 4 which mean no development are farms. The farmers who own the land are not getting anything for this downzoning of their property. This means their property values go down and they have nothing to leave their family.

The state wants all the development to go in our case to Waldorf or La Plata. They don't care that we are a rural county and that most of us moved here to be in a rural setting. We do not want Charles county to be a Montgomery county. CNN voted Waldorf as one of the top 20 places to live. The current 2006 plan maintains 50% of the county stay green and it has. Pushing all the development to Waldorf makes no sense no matter what smart growth people say. We have a great smart growth community its called St. Charles. I see nothing wrong with a nice mix of city and country living with 1 acre lots outside the city and 3 to 5 acre lots closer to the farms. I would like everyone's comments on what Charles County should look like in 20 years.  Keep it growing the way it has with a mix or big city living.   Let us know!

New Updates

Just a few updates on some things I get alot of questions about:

Mom's Organic Market has begun construction and they finally put up a coming soon banner.  They should open in a few months, no set date yet.

Roomstore will close and Bobs Furniture will be taking over their spot.  They are the 8th largest conventional furniture store group and currently have 42 stores.

Brandywine Crossing: Great Escape Movie Theater will open early Spring 2013, the rest of the shops will open fall 2013 or sooner.  Tenants include Philly flash, McDonalds, Hanabi Japanese Steakhouse, and Cheddar's.  Potential tenants include Fuddruckers, Advanced Auto, Carolina Kitchen and Einstein Bagels.  Those are not final so don't get excited yet!

Rosewick Crossing: Qdoba Mexican Grill has signed a lease for an end cap in the shopping center next to game stop.  We are also working a deal for pizza hut carry out and a few other tenants.

Walmart Supercenter is still on hold pending a court hearing for the annexation into the town of La Plata.  We should know something in the next 30 to 60 days.

Sweetfrog Frozen Yogurt in La Plata will open August 30th  They are now hiring.

Westlake Square

Westlake Square Shopping Center is a 27,000 sf retail center that will start construction later this year.  Tenants include 7-11 with gas station and the Learning Experience.  It will be located at the corner of Smallwood Drive and Middletown Road near Westlake High School.  Space available from 1,127 square feet and up.  If you are interest in leasing space give us a call.

New retail updates

New shops are popping up at the Shops at Waldorf.  First to open is the Ulta Beauty store located near Christmas tree shops.  Cafe Rio will be opening June 30th and Genghis Grill and Sweet frog frozen yogurt will come in the near future.  Construction is underway for the Charming Charlie womens accessory retailer.  Genghis Grille will take over the former Chuck E Cheese which officially opens on June 18th at the Charles County Plaza.  Sweet Frog is currently planned to move in next to Ledo's Pizza.  More details as we get them.

UPDATE:  Staples will be moving over between Babies R Us and Ulta and Charming Charlie will be between Ulta and Christmas tree shops.   Jennifer Furniture will be leaving.  No word on what is happening with the Staples space.

Little Caesars opens in La Plata

Little Caesars Pizza is now open in the La Plata Plaza near the Safeway.

Chuck E Cheese Waldorf is Hiring

The new location for Chuck E Cheese will be hiring on site on May 23rd starting at 2:00 at the Charles County Plaza.  Planet Fitness will be joining them at this location in the future.

Brandywine Crossing Phase 2

Brandywine Crossing phase 2 in in full construction mode and we will have lots of space to fill.  The two major tenants for this phase are CarMax and Great Escape Theater.  also on site will be Navy Federal Credit Union, McDonald's and Cheddar's.  Philly Flash is in negotiations as well as a few more I can't reveal until the lease is signed.  Sorry no Cheesecake Factory, they are just not able to work for our area.  More to come!

May Updates

Well I just got back from vacation and things in the county are moving right along.  It's great to see lots of construction in the area which means more jobs!  Here are a few highlights on whats going on:

 ULTA Beauty should be opening mid summer at the Shops at Waldorf.  It is located near the Christmas Tree Shops store.

 

Cafe Rio is moving right along as well in the shops at Waldorf.  They are taking over the former Prudential realty location at the entrance from 228.  They are moving in kitchen equipment already so I think we are looking at a mid summer opening.  They are doing some cosmetic changes to the outside of the building to bring it out of the 90's

 I've got a 24,000 square foot office warehouse going up fast behind our building in White Plains, for sale or lease.  no tenants yet but we should see some contracts soon.

 BB&T in White Plains is fully enclosed now and the parking lots is being paved.  The current White Plains branch will close at the end of May.

The Blair Center is moving so fast now they already have stucco on the building after i took my pictures.  Tenants include Kids first swim school, Beauty 4 U & Mom's Organic Grocery which I know a lot of people have been asking for.  Kids first is already advertising for enrollment.

Some other projects in the area include:
-Bookstore and a Japanese carryout for Merchants square in White Plains which both will open later this year
-Waldorf Thrift store opened in Pinefield
-Dr. Suresh Patel's medical complex opening in the next few months on old Washington Rd. behind the Applebees and Hooters
-Davita Dialysis opening early summer in our building at White Plains Corporate Center
-Go Waiter at 2 post office road that delivers restaurant food to your home
-Hubbards Southern Grill which takes place of the Captains Table at the St. Patrick's Centre
-Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt which will open later this summer at 105 Drury drive in La Plata next to Chipotle
-Reflexion Dominican Hair salon coming soon at the Shoppes at berry rd. next to Wawa
-Chuck e Cheese moving to Charles County Plaza near Giant and Sakura
-Kenney Staffing has moved their office to Franklin Square at 50 post office rd.

New Construction in White Plains

BB&T Bank is currently under construction in the White Plains Corporate Center.  The new branch will open late summer.  The current location in the White Plains commerce center will close once it's complete.

Construction is also underway on the new 24,000 sf White Plains Corporate Flex building located on Regency Place behind our offices.  This building is available as a condominium for sale or lease.  Reservations for space will be taken immediately.  You can lease or purchase a space from 1,400 sf and up depending on your needs.

Chipotle opens in La Plata

Chipotle has opened at its new location in La Plata off of Drury Drive next to Chick fil a and Texas Roadhouse.  Next to open will be Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt and hopefully a Thai Restaurant in the future.

World of Wings has found a new owner and is set to reopen Thursday at the Waldorf Marketplace.  This is the fourth WoW location in Maryland.

Headhunting for new retailers

This Tuesday and Wednesday we are at the National Harbor going after new tenants for Southern Maryland.  The Mid Atlantic Conference and Deal Making session is a smaller version of the 4 day Las Vegas ICSC Convention in May.  We will also be representing Southern Maryland at that event.  We walk acres of prospective tenants to find out who is interested in coming to our area.  It's a great way to network and keep up our knowledge of new trends and retailers while bringing new tenants to our area.

Dash In La Plata

Dash In Food Stores will be taking over the old Exxon Station at the corner of Route 301 and Rt 6 in La Plata.  Renovations will begin shortly and should be complete by April if not sooner. 

BB&T Bank - White Plains

BB&T has begun site work on their new White Plains branch.  This free standing location will be located at the corner of Crain Highway South and Stanhaven Place in the White Plains Corporate Center.  The branch currently on Theodore Green Blvd. will relocate here.

Buffalo Wild Wings Sets the Date!

Buffalo Wild Wings will open it's Waldorf Location on January 16th.  There will be a Charles County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon cutting around 10:00 am
