August 2024 Updates

Oh August. Hot weather and long days. August marks the ending of summer and the beginning of a new school year on the way.  I don't want the summer to end even though sometimes it can be miserable.  I enjoy lots of colorful flowers and plants that winter kills.  It always keeps my mood positive. I'm also not looking forward to cleaning up leaves in the fall. So enjoy the weather the best you can.  Make those summer memories and spend it with the ones you love.

South Park Center in Waldorf has signed tenants including a Woman's salon, Botanical Bliss dispensary, Bahama Bucks Shaved Ice and a few more still in lease negotiations.  This building is located near the Carrabba's and Cracker Barrel.
Charleys Philly Steaks is coming soon to the La Plata Village Center next to Dunkin Donuts.
The McDonald's at 3000 Crain Highway in Waldorf by Outback has been demolished to make way for a new up to date version of its stores.  I think this was the oldest one in the area.  Had a couple birthdays there.  I'm not a fan of the new designs. Very boring.
Heartland Dental is taking over the former BBT building in White Plains.  10660 Stanhaven Place
Old Navy will have its grand opening August 10th at the Shops at Waldorf Center.
Domoishi Coming soon to the Esperanza Center in the former El Pollon chicken space.  22650 Three Notch Road A, Lexington Park.  Domoishi specializes in Asian Fusion ramen, wings, poke bowls, and bubble teas.  They have 33 stores in the US currently.

  2. Wow, the South Park project is skipping the whole new construction, nice stores concept and skipping to the rundown, 30 year old strip mall concept tenant-wise eh?

  5. They are clearing the land for the Weis but I haven't been told of any new tenants yet.

Unfortunately when you get that bill for construction you want to fill those spaces as fast as possible to stop the bleeding. These are the tenants that came. The top five calls I get weekly are for churches, event space, tow yards, smoke shops and salons.

No one is really talking about the shoppers spaces besides the charlotte hall one and that is still in the works.

  9. Hi Chris! I was one of the people begging and pleading for a cava in SoMD. Now that I’m spoiled one in St.Marys preferably CH would be lovely. Have they expressed any interest in opening more locations? Thanks for keeping this site going and engaging with us :)

  10. I'm spoiled, I need CAVA... waaa, more more more... Why on Earth do you think CAVA would put a location in Charlotte Hall?

    1. The same reason no one thought CH would get a Chipotle or Chick Fil A or another gas/convenience store. I’m not offended by your mocking (my comment was in jest), but you’re just another adult using the internet to assert the dominance you don’t have the fortitude to assert in your everyday life.

    2. You remind me of Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory... You want it now!

    3. I don't think CH is busy enough for them.

  11. Chris you may have posted this already but what are they clearing land and building on Western Parkway between the CVS and Acton Lane in Waldorf? I'm hoping it's not yet another Office Park or storage unit place?

    2. But the rest of the area hasn't? It's not going to stop, anyone that can't handle it will need to move to Wyoming I guess.

    3. There is also construction on Western Parkway on the same side of the street at CVS but further down towards Acton Lane, just prior to the townhouse development

  13. I wish they'd build a bridge from Nanjemoy to Virginia so maybe this area would get developed... We can't even get a legit gas station!
