After many complaints of families not having enough to do together, a new group has answered the call to help fill that void. Scary Strokes will be an 11,500 sf family entertainment center located in the Waldorf Center behind the Silver Diner. The main attraction will be a black light indoor miniature golf course themed with various family friendly monsters, ghosts, ghouls, etc. They will also have a state of the art high energy arcade with video and ticked redemption games. A snack bar will offer quick service items such as pizza, chicken nuggets, french fries, pre packaged foods, and drinks. Party rooms will also be available for rent.
Additional activities in the future will include an escape room, expanded arcade area, and other interactive offerings.
Construction is taking place now and they hope to be open late summer 2017.

Cool! any plans for a Billy Beez to come around? Other than Chuck e Cheese there's practically nothing to do indoors with my 1 year old during the day on rainy/cold days
ReplyDeleteHave not heard of them but I will look it up.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great indoor playground for kids and they serve food. Definitely check out their site, closest one is Manassas! I'm in Lusby, but would definitely travel to Waldorf for something like that!
DeleteHi Chris any updates on Krispy Kreme?
ReplyDeleteI sent the guy an email today to see what's up but no answer yet.
DeleteHi Chris,
ReplyDeleteWhere is the new Southern Maryland Sportsplex & Learning Center being built?
Lisa
Alicia, You may wanna check out http://familyplacetoplay.com/waldorf/ lets give these current places support so they will expand and stay in business.
ReplyDeleteAny idea what is being built behind the Baldus Center in LaPlata.
ReplyDeleteRetail center. Future blog post.
DeleteWill there be a Cheesecake Factory and/or a P F Changs coming to the Waldorf area?
ReplyDeleteVery doubtful. look for my past post called "you can't have have your cheesecake and country too"
DeleteI truly understand it's all about the dollar and business sustainability. With $300k plus homes being sold, residents are willing to spend money for upscale stores and restaurants. However, growth must be well planned. More importantly, Charles County needs more schools. New homes and no new schools is a huge issue. Let's not have a repeat of PG County!
DeleteI think that ship has already sailed.
DeleteWhat are they building on St. Charles PKWY adjacent to The Links apartments?
ReplyDeleteThey are doing some work to prepare the site for future commmercial and residential.
DeleteIt is a myth that the county needs more schools. There are documents on the CCBOE site that proves it. A rezoning would fix the issue. They are adding an elementary school now in the Waldorf / white plains area currently. People still need to be in the county to spend money and if they aren't here during the day time because their job takes them out of the county the stores don't like it. Stores want higher population and if you read the paper some of the commissioners are doing everything they can to stop that.
ReplyDeleteChris,
ReplyDeletedo you know any news about the construction of new shopping center on Crain Hwy, between Cracker Barrel and Taco Bell (corner of Smallwood drive and Crain Hwy)
I appreciate your information.
I have not seen any movement on this proposed center. There are wetlands on that property that are going to have to be navigated around. We had it listed a long time ago. Lots of rumors as to what is planned but until I see construction I don't believe any of it. The plan has already changed twice.
ReplyDeleteWhy cant St.mary's county get a scary strokes, chunky cheese, a skating rink, Goat carts, even a new bowling alley would be GREAT!!!! anything for family fun night, or just to keep kids out of trouble. I feel bad for the base families that relocate here, and there is nothing to do here besides eat. I know they have been building the county up, but its all restaurants, grocery stores, and retailers. I heard back in the day the county had a lot of these things here, but they are all gone now. I would love to have stuff here, and not have to drive hours for family fun nights. This county really needs to start thinking about the kids
ReplyDeleteKeep an eye out for Majesticland Family Entertainment Center coming to Charles County soon. It will have custom theme party rooms, concession, and huge indoor playground with other kiddie attractions. The party rooms and attractions with be uniquely different than any entertainment in the DMV area. Stay Tuned!
