The retail center at 105 Drury Drive in La Plata is getting some new tenants and construction for some is under way. Cold Stone Creamery and Tropical Smoothie will occupy space facing Chick-fil-A, Sprint will go into the former barber shop and Jersey Mikes Subs will take over the Sweet Frog location. We are working to find Sweet Frog a new space in the La Plata area. You should see some of the stores open up this summer. Jersey Mikes will be the last to open in late Summer / Fall. Great new additions to the area. This center is located between Chick-fil-A and Texas Roadhouse.
UPDATE: Jersey Mike's is now open.
No turbinao in my smoothie
ReplyDeleteAny word of Cookout BBq and burgers coming to Southern Maryland sir?
ReplyDeleteNot yet but i sent them a message to see if they were coming up north.
ReplyDeleteNice!!!! If they come in the california area specifically by the movie theater it would be game over
DeleteI called the corporate office they tomd me they aren't planning on any more maryland locations but they said that doesn't mean never. But the guy I talked to said he will pass saint Mary's and Charles County to the owner
DeleteWhat's going in by advanced Auto in Charlotte Hall?
ReplyDeleteI second the Cookout!!
ReplyDeleteLa Plata needs more small businesses vs all these corporate chains that keep ruining the town.
ReplyDeleteWhat's being built between Burger King and the Baldus Building?
ReplyDeleteBaldus is building a small retail center to finally replace the one destroyed in the tornado many years ago.
ReplyDeleteNothing is planned yet for the space by advance auto in charlotte hall.
CHRIS, WHAT IS COMING IN ON 301 BETWEEN THE BURGER KING & THE BALDUS REALTY BUILDING? THANX!
ReplyDeleteSee my comment above yours :)
ReplyDeleteWill we ever get a trader joes or whole food i am getting tired of going to alexandria every friday evening or saturday morning
ReplyDeleteNot likely but they may change their minds.
DeleteChris,
ReplyDeleteWhat are the plans for the small retail center next to Baldus?
trader joes blows, overpriced like a mug
ReplyDeletepie five or either blast fired pizza would be a great addition
ReplyDeleteIs long john silvers ever gonna come to waldorf ?
ReplyDeleteMay not have a franchise for the area.
DeleteThey were supposed to open in Pinefield several years ago where Dunkin Donuts went in. Then they started closing the co-branded locations like the one in Bryans Road. They have some locations north of us in PG County. They would do well here. Something different is always welcome!!
DeleteChris, have you heard that an Amazon distribution center will allegedly be built in White Plains, MD, near the intersection of Rt 301 and Marshall Corner Rd (Rt 227)?
ReplyDeleteThat is not true. They were looking on our 228 business park but backed out along with several other sites.
DeleteAny word on the Sweet Frog in LaPlata? I thought it was doing well. Why did they let Jersey Mikes take their spot?
ReplyDeleteDo you have a date on the tropical smoothie opening?
ReplyDeleteSweet frog is looking for another location but has not picked a site yet. We are not sure if the landlord did not renew the lease or they wanted to sell the franchise. It will be a different operator.
ReplyDeleteNo dates yet for opening of any of the new tenants yet.
What's going on with Krispy Kreme in Pinefield? Any opening date?
ReplyDeleteworking on an opening by the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteI saw that they have already started on the jersey mikes. Do you have any information about the other few stores coming in and when they will be here?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the size of the small space in the planned Baldur Building?
ReplyDeleteI believe its 1,324 sf. I am waiting on an update from them.
ReplyDeleteI see the sign is up for Jersey Mike's. What is the target opening date?
ReplyDeleteMaybe open mid September.
ReplyDeleteWow, this blog is great, good info to be had. New visitor here.
ReplyDeleteShocked to learn Sweet Frog has leapt away, but thrilled they're looking for a nearby pad to land on. The little ones really enjoyed their delights, and it is always great to see the kiddos smile. Their old spot was convenient, particularly with the surrounding mix of shopping options. Oh well, at least they're planning to make another splash in town.
Since it seems people are sorta submitting requests here. While we just got Sonic Burger, and not to dim the volume on what they have to offer, but what about an In-N-Out Burger? I sooooo miss their burgers! It's been years.
And if everyone here feels La Plata is getting saturated with too much business. Not an opinion I share, by the way. But if that is truly the case. Then, let's welcome them to another southern Maryland town instead - California. And just maybe we can get some bureaucrat to rubberstamp on the idea of adding another six to the name of the route from here to there. We'd be all set. I know, I know, a little too much California dreamin'.
None the less, it would be nice to have an In-N-Out around.
Thanks for the comments. So far In and Out has not made it past Texas. I'd like to try one in the future. It could happen one day.
ReplyDeleteDo you know when the tropical smoothie will start being built?
ReplyDeleteA Jersey Mike's in the California MD area would be awesome....no one down here can make a decent cheesesteak
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly will be the purpose of the new construction project at US 301 and Marshall Corner Rd.? Will it bring job opportunities to SoMD?
ReplyDeleteIt is the army’s recruiting and training center. There will be over 300 people training there every week. I do not know how many civilians they will hire.
DeleteAny update on the Cold stone in la plata? the space next to tropical smoothie is still empty.
