AMC Theaters has announced a 4.5 million dollar VIP renovation of the St. Charles Town Center 9.
Renovations will provide enhanced presentation quality for guests, as every auditorium will be converted to a Sony 4K digital projection experience and feature state-of-the-art speakers. Other modifications to the theater include a renovation of the theater's restrooms, as well as changes to the box office and lobby area. Guests will also enjoy movies from new power leather recliners on platforms, as well as an upgraded concession area. AMC is also evaluating the possibility of adding an IMAX auditorium. The theater will remain open during renovations. They expect to complete everything by summer 2012.
Thank you to our blog fans for the update.
Any news on when retailer Cotton On will open in St.Charles Town Center?
ReplyDeleteI have not heard anything yet. The cotton site does not even show it on their map. I put it in the search and it took me to Kuala Lumpur!
ReplyDeleteI just found out cotton will open around March 8th.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteI am told that Chuck E Cheese will be moving into the area that LOL Stations is currently at.
ReplyDeleteYes I have been told the same thing along with a fitness center but they were unwilling to give information out. Thanks
ReplyDeleteIs Family Furniture in Waldorf closing? I see their space up for lease on a commercial real estate site. But it may be outdated.
ReplyDeleteHey do you know why LoL Stations is closing, because they said there closing on their website?
ReplyDeleteThe space is being divided and Chuck E Cheese and a fitness center are supposedly taking over that space.
ReplyDelete@Harris, according to costar it is showing 19,000 sf available so im going to assume its family furniture.
ReplyDeleteI had thought AMC said there was no room to expand at the current location? Did they find an area to expand to? If adding an IMAX, that property seems far too small.
ReplyDeleteThey have not picked up any more land so it would have to be worked in to the existing area. I don't think they will add one but I hope they prove me wrong.
ReplyDeleteImax is a tricky situation. Imax usually limits the number of screens in the area and they have one at Hoffman and one going in at Cap Center pretty soon so they may not want to do one in Waldorf. Also I think maybe the current auditoriums aren't probably suitable for one so they might have to build a new auditorium for it. The seats that they are planning to put in probably aren't the best for an Imax presentation so I would think they would do a more traditional stadium style auditorium in there.
ReplyDeleteThey never mention stadium seating in the renovations so i dont think that is happening. They just mention upgrades of some current seats on platforms.
ReplyDeleteI've seen pictures of other locations they have done this to (google Vestal 9 or Lake Square 12) and while it's not "stadium seating" in the traditional sense it does raise each level of row above the one in front of it. It's actually smart they are going this direction because whenever traditional stadium seating is put in there is a significant number of seats lost because of the rise. There will still be seats lost because of the new seats being larger than the existing ones but it's probably less than if they would have gone full "traditional" stadium.
ReplyDeleteMade my first visit to the AMC today to see Avengers. They are still working on the theatre and I wanted an IMAX addition or at least stadium seating.
ReplyDeleteBut I was very pleased with the red leather reclining seats! They are excellent and everyone loved them. I heard alot of folk snoring because they got too comfortable. Another big hit was the soda machine with a variety of options.
I know the Great Escapes will be nice but I think I will be sticking with the AMC; I am picking leather recliners over stadium seating:)
