First off I need everyone to take a breath and chill on some of the conversations that are going on here. Everyone has opinions on why things don't come here and what the county needs. But these conversations are going off the rails. Lets please keep it civilized. I haven't really moderated the comments and usually approve everything letting people say what they want, but if it starts to get out of hand I'm going to have to do something.
I put this information up for fun and to inform because I don't like disinformation thrown out there. Hopefully it helps people understand the process and the why and how things come to the area. It seems to work because I notice it in the Facebook comments on other pages. So that makes me happy. Its time consuming as well getting the information, sometimes I spend a little too much time doing it. I've always had a problem with time management, lol.
Congratulations to all of our new graduates. I wish you the best of luck. Stay focused on your goals and don't let anyone tell you that you can't achieve greatness.
DSW is showing a June 8th opening date at their new spot in the Shops at Waldorf Center. People ask why are they moving? Probably higher visibility, but they did downsize to focus on higher end shoes.
Jersey Mike's is showing a new location coming to the corner of Dares Beach road and Solomon's Island Road. They don't give an address so we will have to see if its in Calvert Village or across the street somewhere.
Kaiser Permanente was in town to give a small update on their future plans for the area. They are looking at a late 2025 early 2026 competition date for their first phase which will have 90,000 sf of next gen medical space. Included in this are 50 doctors offices, primary care, optometry, X-Ray, Imaging, MRI and 24 hour urgent care and 24 hour pharmacy. They mentioned that they have 16,000 members in the area already, and that they are working as fast as they can to bring these services closer to you. More services to be added in the second phase. We look forward to seeing work begin.M&D Chicken and Fish now open in the Bryans Road Shopping Center. 3091 Marshall Hall Road.
Thanks for all the information you provide and hopefully people will come down with the unnecessary comments.
ReplyDeleteChris I have two questions, when is Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken opening? Is Panera Bread moving? see link:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.meetcharlescounty.com/new-businesses-coming-soon/
Hangry joes has not announced a date yet. They keep hinting that's its coming. Keep a watch on their facebook page. Panera plans to move to their own freestanding building sometime in the future. It will be out next to the Silver diner.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the information you provide and keeping us informed. I have been a reader of your blog for a long time and always look forward to your monthly updates. You are appreciated!
ReplyDeleteChris any ideas when royal farms is coming Lexington park and Charlotte hall. Also when is sheetz coming to Charlotte hall?
ReplyDeleteStill hoping, against hope, we don't see royal farms.
ReplyDeleteAt this point with all the other development does it really matter one way or another?
DeleteThey are all in development. Still coming. Permits and planning are taking longer than it should.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all your comments.
Chris you may have mentioned this already but what if the structure being built on Route 301 South ( right hand side) between PNC Bank and the shopping center where the Giant Food is?
ReplyDeleteTommy’s car wash is what sign says
DeleteI think you are talking about the tommys car wash that was where the old shell station was.
ReplyDeleteYes there was a a Shell gas station there a while back but that's not where Tommy's Car Wash is going, according to this article the car wash is going to be at 2520 Old Crain Highway, unless plans have changed. I'm speaking of construction directly across the street from the Hamilton Center Office Park which as at 3200 Crain Hwy and Sleep Number store. The Shell gas station is gone.

Well its another car wash I know that. I thought they were both tommys.
ReplyDeleteokay. The cars in Waldorf will be very clean with all these car washes, I didn't think we needed any more. :)
DeleteChris thank you so much for the info. This page helped us to make a decision on where we bought a house when moving to Maryland.
ReplyDeleteChris I saw a public notice in the paper for hearing on new WaWa coming to Waldorf at 2390 Crain Hwy. That puts it pretty close to Waldorf Chevolet and on that side of the road. Whats going be knocked down to put this up if approved.
ReplyDeleteThe wawa if approved will probably wipe out the car wash and the brown building.
ReplyDeleteHi! Any hope for a lotte or h-mart?
ReplyDeleteLOL, I would take an H Mart over Wegmans, TJs, and all the other stores people long for; I stop there every time I’m over in VA. But if you look at their locations across the country, I think they need a big population of Asian folks to support an such an ethnic supermarket, bakery, food court, etc.
DeleteI am sure it’s been asked but is there any possibility for something new in nanjemoy/bryans road/Indian head area?
ReplyDeleteI keep waiting for a major business boom in Nanjemoy, it never happens :(
DeleteChris, what is going on with Naz Halal? I will it ever open or has it been scrapped?
ReplyDeleteI heard Royal Farms bought the land on the corner of 225 and 210 in Indian Head. Is there any news about this?
ReplyDeleteWhen Is The Shoppers In Waldorf, MD Reopening?
ReplyDeleteHey Chris, I want to say thank you for maintaining this blog! I was wondering if you had any intel on the Good Times bar in Bel Alton. It’s been vacant for a while and seems like a decent piece of property.
ReplyDeleteYes it is a tommys car wash.
ReplyDeleteI know they are working on a new local market in indian head but its still being completed.
Naz is still under construction.
Yes royal farms did buy land but there isn't anything to announce yet.
Shoppers Waldorf is hiring so they should open by the end of the month. Nothing was on shelves yet.
Good times has been sitting for a long time. It was last sold in 2016. Does not show up in any listings now.
Is a YMCA feasible to bring to Charles County???
ReplyDeleteHello, I live in the accokeek area of southern Maryland. Are there any new or expected stores coming to the area that your heard of? I see new stores opening left and right in Waldorf but not much on the area live in . Will they ever bring the royal farms here that was suppose to be built?
ReplyDeleteYMCA comes when the think there is a need. The county also has to put up money to make it happen. So far they have not shown interest in the area. I know st marys had been in the process of getting one. it was not cheap.
ReplyDeleteRoyal farms is still in the works for that area. Approvals and permitting take forever.
I dont know of anything else new coming to the area.
Hi Chris! I'm new to your blog but it's been a fun read!! My husband and I currently rent in Alexandria, but we're thinking of buying a home in Waldorf, Accokeek or the vicinity. I saw that years ago, there were plans to redevelop downtown Waldorf and include pedestrian and bike friendly areas. Did that plan get quashed? I'm having a hard time finding recent updates about it/
