Chris just noticed a new restaurant called crazy crab in brandywine shopping center. It will be where Fuddruckers was located.Do you have any info about it?
ReplyDeleteI asked the landlord about it. Waiting on reply.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris. I noticed you posted a Tropical Smoothie Cafe opening in Dunkirk (Shoppes at Apple Green). However, I was unable to find the establishment in the shopping center. Was this posted by mistake?
ReplyDeleteMy mistake it’s coming soon not open yet. Sorry.
DeleteSo Royal Farms entering the market on a heavily congested road. The state should of done overpass at Moore’s Rd but I see it having a full light cycle in the future (by years end) especially if a gas station will be located there.
ReplyDeleteThis lamb is wondering if Sheetz would come to the area?
ReplyDeleteUpeendina Lamb, I seem to recall Chris saying that Sheetz believes all the good locations have already been taken.
ReplyDeleteSheets and Wawa do not want to compete with each other. They are friendly competitors. If one is in an area they wont come.
ReplyDeleteThen why is there a Sheetz and a Wawa within a couple of miles of each other in King George?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteActually sheetz was with us yesterday and they said they are becoming more competitive now. So guess that went out the window. Finding them a good spot is going to be more difficult.
ReplyDeleteIs 7 eleven coming on 228 in Waldorf where use to be sod place.
ReplyDeletePossible but not anything solid.
DeleteWould it be possible to get a Zaxbys?
ReplyDeleteI spoke to them a few weeks ago. Zaxbys isn’t ready to come to MD yet. They said maybe a couple years.
DeleteHow much of an economic impact is Pax River NAS having on Southern Maryland and more specifically St Mary's county? It seems like there should be more businesses in the area and more up-to-date family attractions. With Wise closed and Shoppers on the chopping block, what is being done to attract more retailers to the area? Also any idea on plans for a new bowling alley?
ReplyDeletePAX River has a huge impact on the area. Its up to the brokers and Economic Development team to market the area to potential tenants. Its always in their best interest to market the anchor tenant spots as best as possible because there are sometimes penalties built into the other smaller tenants leases if there is no anchor. So far I have not heard of any new bowling alley.
ReplyDeleteHow can we get more involved and leverage brokers and the Economic Development Team to market the area? I've been stationed all across the country in both small and large market areas and this area doesn't seem to be reaching its potential.
DeleteChris
ReplyDeleteDo you think Waldorf could have a Towne center a la redesign Springfield mall in virgina? It would be cool to have a new infrastructure or redesign the layout of st Charles Towne center.
Any news on if we'll ever get another internet provider in St Mary's County? Atlantic Broadband is pretty bad
ReplyDeleteChris can you explain why California, MD has a Harris Teeter but when HT was looking into Waldorf, the number of residents wasn't high enough. When you first mentioned why HT wasn't coming, they had an insane high number of residents that had to be in the area before they considered building. The California MD Harris Teeter is nice but why would they choose California, MD over Waldorf? I would think Waldorf has more residents than California. In addition, is any shopping center/grocery store/"something" ever coming to the corner of St. Charles Parkway and Billingsley road as the residents was promised years ago? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHow can you get involved in what the economic team is doing? Start with attending their quarterly round tables at the Waldorf library near Boston's They run from 8-9:30 am the next one is April 17th.
ReplyDeleteWC I don't see it as a plan anytime soon. I would like when and if a major box store left that it was turned into college classroom space or even a medical center. Its also going to be hard to find tenants when we have so many major centers in the area.
I'm not up to date on internet locations. You would think that area would have multiple providers by now.
I have no answer to why Harris Teeter wont come to Waldorf. The people of the county should flood their inbox with requests. When they decided to skip over us I was floored.
Who promised a development on that corner?
ReplyDeleteRyan Homes....When they told future residents around 6 years ago that a Harris Teeter and other shops were going to come at the corner of St. Charles and Billingsley. But Harris Teeter backed out or what I later found out, HT was never a sure bet but Ryan Homes was just telling future home buyers this as a marketing scheme. We talked about this before and you agreed that Ryan Homes never should have done that since HT was never a guarantee. In addition, I recently visited another up and coming Ryan Homes complex in another MD town with a family member in which the representative was promising a new shopping center coming near by on some open land. I quickly stopped her and said that you are trying the same marketing scheme you told me when I was buying my home in Waldorf, the representative quickly said "oh I heard about that and I had nothing to do with how that turned out". I told her to stop selling these marketing ideas to potential buyers if they don't know 100% that the deal is confirmed. She quickly stopped talking about the up and coming shopping center. With that being said, the land is still open at the St. Charles corner and the residents were hoping something else would come. A few summers ago a sign was placed in the area as if a new development was coming soon. Nothing happen. So all we are looking forward to now is the new 7/11 and other shops coming to the corner of Piney Church Road and Billingsley. Yes, that's nice but we were still hoping for our own grocery store, as we were told previously.
ReplyDeleteYes I remember that now. Sad they are still trying to pull that same stunt. A few years ago St. Charles was trying to move some of their planned apartments around and when they went to the county the previous commissioners said they could only make the change if they got a high end grocery store on that site. Unfortunately none would come to the corner so its still sitting for sale. Lennar homes has bought all the remaining St. Charles land now so they have no plan to develop it either. Hopefully we can get another outside group to look at it.
ReplyDeleteI thought Lidl was coming to Waldorf. Is that still happening? Would sheetz consider building next to Buffalo Wild Wings, tearing down the old bank space at St. Charles Mall? There are no gas stations on that side of the road (301 South)
ReplyDeleteLidl is clearing land now. Sheetz will not go off the highway. There also isn't enough land to do that there.
ReplyDeleteHI Chris, can you please tell us what's going on with KFC in Waldorf on 301? They are literally building homes and retail faster than this so called remodel. Have they even started remodeling because it looks pretty run down.
ReplyDeletePlease take Chris's word over mine but I heard they had a sewer issue and they were bickering with the county to see who's paying for repairs. Chris says they're considering a teardown and rebuild.
