Grille 13 will be moving to the former Mimi's Cafe in the Waldorf Marketplace. Work is underway to move their liquor license to the new address. This space will more than double their current location giving them lots of room to grow. No word yet on when they will open. Renovations have just begun.
I must say I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping a new resturant would come to that location. I haven't heard much about this
ReplyDeleteplace, maybe I will try it. Has anyone been there?
We love this venue. It's great for families or a date night. I'm excited for the expansion.
DeleteWasnt a fan of the current joint. Seemed like a specific local pub. The new spot is big move. They are competing with a row of heavy hitters.
ReplyDeleteThis lamb is thankful their species is not on the menu at this fine establishment.
ReplyDeleteGrill 13 has very good food, especially the shepherds pie.
ReplyDeleteTheir menu is heavy and stale. Same offerings as the day they opened and it is all mediocre. Hopefully when they move they freshen it up.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan anyway, but good luck with the move.
ReplyDeleteGreat I love that place and now it will be closer to my house...
ReplyDeleteHad their corned beef and cabbage during a trivia night and it was spoiled rotten. Won a gift certificate playing trivia and I took it home and threw it away.
ReplyDeleteHey Anonymous, you sure you're talking about the same place I am? Every time I've gone the food has been great.
ReplyDeleteHammockbrain, I'm pretty sure it was and my visit was probably an anomaly, but I left there with a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). I cant return without thinking about my first visit. Maybe the relocation will change that.
DeleteStill so sad that Mimi's didn't make it. I think restaurants have a tough time finding competent help in this area. Mimi's in Florida and Ohio, customers literally lined up out the door to be seated. Every time I tried waldorf location, food was cold or still frozen or uncooked. I gave them more chances than usual cause I love the locations elsewhere. Charles County Schools need a vocational program teaching kids the basics of food service. Guess if they grow up on McNuggets and no home cooking, they haven't a clue! Grille 13 is getting a beautiful facility, hope it works out.
ReplyDeleteI think Mimi's had issues company wide after the company was sold (used to be owned by Bob Evans). It's tough for restaurants here. Chain restaurants have issues so I can just imagine how difficult it can be on an independent restaurant. It does seem like kind of a big step for them and I'm sure the rent will be a significant increase.
DeleteAbsolutely love this place. Good food, great staff! Can't wait for the new location.
ReplyDeleteDidn't you post Waldorf suppose to be getting a Krispy Kreme Donuts? If so, when and where?
ReplyDeleteYes I posted about it in February 2017.
