Land is being cleared for the new Cadillac Crossing Center across from Brandywine Crossing Shopping Center. The property will have a hotel, retail and grocery store as well as some pad sites for other uses. Best Western is the hotel but that may change. Verizon and Chipotle are signed on with more to come.
Looks like this is going in around where the car wash is, next to Aldi. I wish I could be more excited about it, but that area's already a bottleneck for Rt. 5 with the two traffic lights for Brandywine Crossing, and its just going to get worse with adding more traffic especially if more lights are added to service this new development. The land is there, but the infrastructure to handle the traffic flow really isn't. Even on the weekends, there's long backups all the way from the 5/301 merge to Brandywine Crossing.
ReplyDeleteI understand this is all in PG county and the traffic flow to and from Waldorf and La Plata isn't something they care about (since the people affected are mostly Charles County residents), and they're getting additional taxes from the new businesses...but its really getting to the breaking point in the BC section, if it isn't at that level already.
I agree. I am all for the new stores on the PG side but something has to be done with the Brandywine congestion. It's 7 days a week of all day gridlock. With all the traffic going through the area Wegmans coming to So. Md shouldn't be a problem.
ReplyDeleteWegmans still relies on daytime population. Hopefully they will be able to get them to come here but don't hold your breath.
DeleteHi Chris, any word on when Krispy Kreme will have their grand opening?
ReplyDeleteNo they are still a way off. They are going thru approvals to build now. It will be a separate building in the parking lot.
ReplyDeleteAre you aware if any tenants have been lined up for the Landing at Woodyard?
ReplyDeleteThere will be 5 new anchor tenants, several new restaurant buildings and new in line tenancy. Kmart has started its closing process and construction is underway.
DeleteAny word on when they will release tenant names and when it's planned to open? Tried contacting broker listed for it but couldn't get anything concrete

DeleteAre there still plans to build a Royal Farms on Route 5 near the intersections with Brandywine Road?
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of any plans for royal farms. The road construction is all that I know of in that area.
ReplyDeleteCan you please let us know the exact location of the krispy kreme? I do better with landmarks rather than addresses (i.e next to the waldorf motel, etc.). Thanks
ReplyDeleteWill be located in the Pinefield North Shopping Center, heard it was going to be in the old Waku Chicken structure.
Deletewhat grocery store are they looking at?
ReplyDeleteKrispy will be in the parking lot of pinefield south shopping center once its built.
ReplyDeleteLidl is the proposed grocery store.
This is just insane, obviously the people that plan these developments do not have to drive rush hour mon-fri!
ReplyDeleteExactly!!! Money hungry bullshit!!!! Not every inch of Southern MD needs to be built on. The area already looks like a congested mess of a headache.
DeleteWell, I guess I'll start packing lunch and dinner for the days I to go North of Waldorf for a bit of thrift store treasure hunting ... wait, did someone say Krispy Kreme? WAIT... I got time for that.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris,
ReplyDeleteIs there any chance that Waldorf or Brandywine will get a Sweetgreen or something comparable?
Waku is pinefield South. That is the shopping center where KK will go but they will be on a separate pad site in the parking lot.
ReplyDeleteGreat.... more freaking traffic to add to the already over hour commute from DC to Southern Maryland....Sure hope road expansion comes along with more building...
ReplyDeleteAren't they suppose to be building a light rail from Branch Ave metro into White Plains? I got a email about it like a month ago...
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about what will come to the site of the Waldorf Hotel and Rips. I am so glad to see that it's finally coming down. Perfect spot for Wegmans or WholeFoods if you ask me.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.businessinsider.com/list-of-lidl-locations-in-the-us-2016-9
ReplyDeleteHow about a Dave and Busters and a Nordstrom Rack?
ReplyDeleteThis lamb would add World Market and an Apple Store.
DeleteLidl has not announced all their locations but I know of three proposed in the area.
ReplyDeleteDave and busters would be nice but need high traffic, high population.
The light rail is still in the study period stage. If it did come it would run from white plains up 925 to branch ave. Could be 15 years away. They have been talking about it for that long already.
What is going on with a grocery store and other businesses on the land around the intersection of St. Charles Parkway and Billingsley Road?
ReplyDeleteWaiting for someone to buy and develop it. No plans currently.
DeleteThanks for the updates! Will they be tearing down the current Cadillac Motel? What's with the huge hill of dirt currently in front of it?
ReplyDeleteYes the old motel will come down. No idea on the dirt hill.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Another reason not to move back to Southern Maryland! Traffic is horrendous. Makes the entire area unpleasant.. let's building more stuff in an already extremely congested area.. sounds like a lovely idea. Im sick of this bullshit. Leave some trees & land here & there for the love of God not every inch of Southern maryland needs to be covered with concrete.
ReplyDeleteThere is a developer proposing to build a southern campus for PG Community College - right on the intersection of 301 and Cedarville Road - across from the Wawa. Current land is part of the old horse farm, which was being proposed for a Ultra Large Wallmart Supercenter (replacing the smaller Wallmart in Waldorf now). The new Wallmart is being fought on a number of fronts, including environmental, since is will likely pollute the Mattawoman Creek Watershed. That horse farm is also supposed to be the opening of the Western parkway/Waldorf Bypass, if built.
ReplyDeleteThere are proposed projects on the horse farm which is owned by the Walton Group and on the Curtis farm across the highway. From what I have seen the beginning of the western parkway does not start until you are in charles county because of the creek.
ReplyDeleteHello neighbors, I am just joining the group, it is nice to hear what is going on in the community. With all of the increase in infrastructure, it will be nice to have the property values increase. The increase in development is bringing so much congestion to the area and I do not understand why homes are underwater here in Charles County. it is so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI heard the Sunoco station in the Pinefield shopping center will close for good on Friday. Do you know what is happening there?
ReplyDeleteThis lamb remembers before the gas station a Hardee's, and before that a victorian house.
DeleteI do remember a hardees but i thought it was at the current BP station. But youd k ow before me. 😠
DeleteWhen are they going to start building in Fort Washington or Indian Head? Waldorf is crowded enough, time to build elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteA Wegmans in the area would work in Waldorf. The closest two are in Alexandria and Bowie. With all the traffic coming in and out of Waldorf, Wegmans would be perfect. Second request, some type of Boys and Girls Club with actual basketball facilities. Not everyone plays soccer and hockey.
ReplyDeleteBrandywine Village? I live in Chaddsford Community and have seen a sign for Brandywine Village for the longest. Now I see land and trees starting to move. What do they plan for this area? To me doesn't seem like enough space off the road for anything major. Lots of space for the land on opposite side would be ideal. Hopefully they give us a Library there. Library would be very nice for the area. Development is long over due. But the infrastructure is horrible.
ReplyDeleteIf brandywine village has started its will be retail.
ReplyDeleteChris, Do you have any info on how long the Cedarville Rd Bridge will be closed?
ReplyDeleteConstruction will take a year.
DeleteBrandywine Village started weeks ago with surveying and marking. Just walked through there today and they have cleared close to 20 acres already...even have a temporary bridge built for construction equipment. There is more and more construction traffic there every day...they are moving ahead pretty fast.
ReplyDeleteI am the listing broker for Cadillac crossing. Besides the Lidl and those mentioned until leases are fully signed I cant give out the information.
ReplyDeleteOh I was actually referring to the Landing @ Woodyard, but thanks for info
ReplyDeleteTenant names will be released before the end of the year. The project is slated to be fully open across the board in early 2019. Most of 2018 will entail substantial construction work.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Will definitely will be looking forward to seeing list..hopefully it will be something different / better than the current offering.
ReplyDeleteThe only tenant I've seen for The Landing at Woodyard is Tropical Smoothie. If anyone else has updates, please let us know.
ReplyDeleteYeah it's been pretty silent on tenant front for a couple months.Seems things have stagnated in terms of movement over there the times I have driven by over past month.
ReplyDeleteApparently they are 97% leased.

This gentlemen has some updates every now and then.
Looks like The Landing in Clinton, MD is getting a Panera Bread and Tropical Smoothie
