Just some updates on projects on Crain Highway in the Waldorf area. Above is what we are going to be turning the old American Hardware into this year. Construction will begin in a few months. They will be gutting, refacing and adding to the building for a total of around 15,000 square feet. It should be ready by the end of the year. Already have a few tenants lined up.
This project is a new retail center closer to Pinefield. This was the old thrift store next to Mr. Tire that had burned down. This one is closer to completion but no word on any tenants yet. Updates as we get them. I like to see old buildings re purposed rather than building new but sometimes the cost to do it is way to high.
Thank you for answering my question re neo-urbanism. I'm disappointed but it's good to know not to expect it any time soon. I saw a Shasho sold sign at the corner of Billingsley and Piney Church. today. What's going there?

ReplyDeleteThere is a great restaurant in Alexandria called haute dog. They are looking to open up a 3rd store. I told them about Waldorf. Wasn't sure if you had anything in mind to replace California tortilla or if you knew how the rent was?

Do you know what is taking place at 45 st Patrick's drive where the clarion used to be? I saw it looks redone

ReplyDeleteI'm interested in knowing if a restaurant for area families like the Rainforest cafe would come to the area. The restaurant is awesome and I think it would do very well in the county as you mentioned, we love to eat!

ReplyDeleteRoyal has been down to look but wawa got all the good spots. They aren't looking hard but if something comes up they may still build here.
ReplyDeleteRainforest wont come here not enough density in the area. They closed in Tysons years ago and that's much busier than here.

St Charles town plaza is getting renovations in sections. They are working on where the new furniture store will go first.
What is the possiblity of a Macaroni Grille or Joe's Crabshack and also Sonic. Now that we have the food out of the way is there anymore talk of transportation that connects Southern MD to Northern MD like casino's or events in Baltimore.Possible Train or Bus lines.

There are no plans for anything on 301 or 5 currently. The only possible future improvement will be to the western parkway as you come into Charles county where the Chaney building is. Western parkway will start there and will connect to the rest of it. That will all depend on the development of chaneys land for the super walmart.

Are there any plans for any new schools coming to our area in the near future to accommodate all the new families with children? I am particularly interesting in high schools. Right now the only high school for our zone is Lackey of which I am not a fan of.
