July 2023 Updates

How you feelin'? Hot, Hot, Hot!  We are starting off with rain and sun this July.  Hope you get thru the 4th with all your fingers and toes!

Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken is now open in the Waldorf Shoppers World Shopping Center next to Charley's Cheesesteaks.

The Farmhouse Café & Creperie coming soon to La Plata at 5695 Washington Avenue.
One of my followers said that the Shoppers in Charlotte Hall, MD is set to open July 20th.  Waldorf is apparently going to open the same day.

In reference to the property at 22915 Hollywood Road in Leonardtown.  There appears to be a something called old town office and auto showroom. A tag and title office with a showroom for classic cars.   It's been in the works since 2019 and they seem to be running into issues getting it approved.

Construction on the new bigger Five Below location at the Shops at Waldorf Center (formerly known as festival) Five Belows current space and the vacant space next to it will become Old Navy. Five below employee said they move over in August. Old navy can then start construction on their space.

  2. Hi Chris, do you know what the likelihood of a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods coming to Waldorf is? I just see a lot commercial spaces opening up and was just wondering. Thanks!

  4. We still are not for certain on the shoppers opening dates. The Waldorf one is starting to put stock on shelves.

Stores like trader joes and whole foods are what they call neighborhood centers. They want a high density population close to their store or a college campus or large medical complex nearby.

  5. You have to think more like George Washington university. Multiple buildings, hundreds of thousands of square feet.

  6. Gotcha...Kaiser Permanente is more like a drive thru.

  7. Hi, any word on Crumbl's opening date?

  8. The Kaiser Permanente is going to be a big complex, but I think I saw its like 2 years away from being built. Before much longer you wont be able to know where Waldorf ends and White Plains begins. Good thing is that there is a EMS Station right next door. Bad thing those kind of medical places put alot of stress on the EMS Departments in the county requesting ambulance service.

  15. Hi, what happened to the Dash-In gas station on the corner of Indian Head Hwy and Lower Wharf Rd? Is it being remodeled or replaced by something else? Thank you

  16. Without knowing for sure, Dash-in seems to remodeling several of their stores. Guess trying to look nice and fancy like Royal Farms and the newer 7-Elevens popping up all over the place. Theres a zoning request in the paper today for the Dash-In at Mattawomen and Leonardtown Rd.to rezone a just a small piece of land beside their current store. If it passes Im sure there will be remodel there. Current store is tight fit on the corner right now.
