December 2021 Updates

Happy Holidays! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and are prepping for the Christmas season.  The weather seems to be all over the place.  Freezing in the morning and 63 in the afternoon!  Everyone stay safe and I hope your holiday is fantastic.  If you have extra to give please help those less fortunate.  Just a little can make a big difference.

Chick-fil-A is back open in La Plata!  New double drive thru covered lines are really interesting.

Family Dollar is opening a new location on 3280 Leonardtown Road in Waldorf.  No word on an opening date.

Lexington Exchange - So currently there is a lot of construction activity going on at the site as they prepare new pad sites and buildings for future tenants.  They have signed a few leases for government contractors that will take up around 30,000 sf of space located near the theater.  This is the plan they have for the property.

So just a recap of other things in the area we have Waldorf Park that has the Chick fil A that just opened plus they have signed Starbucks, Jersey mikes, Aspen dental, Nail Trix, The wine cellar and Naz's Halal.  Most have started their permit process so they should open sometime in the spring.

Rosewick Crossing in La Plata still had Salsita's Grill and Il gusto Ristorante coming soon.

Still nothing is solid for the Charlotte Hall area.  A few things going thru the process of approvals but nothing is a done deal.  We will be handling the leasing for a good portion of the area so we will know first.

Cedar Point Credit Union is now open in Waldorf on Weymouth Court across from Target.

  1. Hello and Happy Holidays! Are you tracking the Royal Farms and Starbucks plans for Charlotte Hall? I saw they are postposed. Your thoughts on whether it will eventually happen? St. Mary's always seems hesitant to let in alot of things that are attractive to people outside of the county.

  2. Chris - St. Mary's County question - what is going in at the corner of Rt. 235 and Oak Crest (near the Aldi & )? I thought that was supposed to be the site of a Royal Farms at one time.

  3. On the Shops at Waldorf site, it shows the current Wendy's space as available and I noticed in the DoorDash app there was a Hardees listed with a Festival Way address. Is Wendy's closing and is Hardee's possibly interested in the space?

  4. We are working with the owners that are trying to get the royal farms in charlotte hall. They have been talking to a number of groups. its just a matter of getting to terms everyone is happy with. We have a plan for the area that will enhance it. Shouldn't have any issues with the county. It will take time.

As of now near aldi they are only showing a pad sites near it and they are working on office and flex space around the rest of the property. They just signed a deal for a tech company contractor for 10,000 sf of office space recently.

I have not heard anything yet on the wendys. Ill have to ask my contact there to see if that is real.

  6. Any chance Cookout would be interested in the old Sonic in LaPlata? Looks like a similar footprint as their VA and NC locations. I never understood how Sonic is so good throughout the south and Midwest and so mediocre locally.

  7. Old Sonic location is also a great footprint for a CAVA in So MD. Long overdue. Has there ever been any interest from CAVA in our area?

  8. Chris, what's the status on the 7-11 in Great Mills at Chancellors Run Rd. Construction has been dormant for nearly 4 months now. It looks abandoned.

  9. Hi Chris - Do you know what is happening in White Plains on Marshall Corner Rd/Padgette and 301 between the Army Reserve and the Church? I believe it's Fox Run. Someone said they were building an auto auction/salvage yard. Please tell me this is inaccurate!!!

  10. Any idea on tenants for the new buildings by RC theater in California? Or when these may be open?
    Thanks for all your insight!

  11. no interest from cava here. Send them a message tell them you want them here. Maybe a franchise I'm not sure.

I have not heard anything about the 7-11 in GM. Maybe a permit issue or something environmental?

The fox run land was purchased by a automotive auction company. They sell cars on a large lot. Not a junkyard or salvage yard. Cant buy parts or remove them from cars. I believe the lot will have to be hidden from view by a fence or berm.

I have only heard about a government contractor called American systems taking 10,000 sf on the site. here is a link to the news:

  14. Hi, Chris. Do you have any updates on the former Social 228 restaurant on 228? It looks like someone purchased it this month and is doing some renovations. This is probably the 4th or 5th buyer in the last 10 years. We'll see if this one lasts.

  15. Burn Box is still going thru the permit process. It will be 3 + months before we see an opening.
I have not seen one thing about Kaiser yet. Its very strange. Its going to be a difficult site to develop.
I havent seen any news on the 228 social club. It changes hands a lot. Its not the best site for a restaurant. Social clubs do not last long. They get stale fast.

  16. Hi there! I was wondering over there in The Landing in Clinton there is something being built onto the Aldi. Any ideas on what that is?
