St. Charles Towne Plaza To Be Renovated

As I had stated before The St. Charles Towne Plaza will be getting renovated.  They have now announced the construction will begin March of 2015 and finish up in November.  We have placed some new tenants in the plaza like PC Retro Computers and Isle of Vape.  St. Charles Pharmacy will open next month and Ashley Furniture will open April 2015 once its storefront is built next to K&G Menswear.  Panda Express has recently opened their freestanding building next to Burger King.  This was a much needed renovation.  Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

  4. Any plans of bringing in Trader Joes or Whole Foods or even Harris Teeter to St. Charles?

  5. Harris Teeter has looked but is not ready to move down just yet.
Trader Joes and Whole Foods have said no for now due to things like demographics & lack of college graduates. They also do not have nearby distribution centers so its a larger investment to make.

  6. Wow, I would think St. Charles would be a prime area for one of the upscale grocery stores. I though for sure Wegmans would be down here by now. Oh well thanks for the updates Christ...

  7. Lack of college graduates? What does that have to do with buying groceries? Even people with no education have to eat!! I have a college degree and I am offended.

  8. Yes it is odd the way they base their moves. They don't take into consideration the people that come into the county to work that have degrees, etc. that shop here on the way home. It gets very frustrating.

  9. Well, I do enjoy shopping at Trader Joes and Whole Foods, but if they base their location on those type of demographics, I have a sour taste. I believe the demographics in Charles County have changed a lot and most of these "uppity" businesses would do well to take notice. I am tired of dollar stores and pharmacies. I don't want to have to shop in Fairfax! Just my 2 cents. Thanks Chris.

  10. I agree that some of these group have to lighten up and take a risk. The first thing we do when a new user comes to town is get them in the car and show them rooftops. Show them more than what they see on paper. It's a lot of work and sometimes they get it and sometimes they don't.

  11. Well I will not use up my gas to go outside the county just for harris teeter, trader joes nor wegmans. I will spend my money in moms organic and giant until retailers recognize the consumer dollars they are missing.

  12. I know many professionals who have degrees who reside here in Waldorf, LaPlata and so forth who have degrees and commute to D.C. and Virginia. I have to wonder what demographics are these individual looking at.
