Unfortunately all news we bring cant be good news. Borders books chain has fallen victim to new technologies like the kindle and falling sales so all stores will be closing. The Waldorf location currently has no set date to close. Personally I would rather hold a book in my hand rather than a electronic one. It just isn't the same. Hopefully we can assist in finding a new store to take it's place that everyone will enjoy just as much.
So sad to see Borders close it's doors. I agree with you, Id rather hold a book in my hand as well. I tried reading on the Ipad but something got lost in the experience. I also loved taking my kids to Borders to enjoy choosing new books to read. :(
ReplyDeleteGet with the program, Chris. I like holding a book but if I'm going on a long trip I don't have to lug a bunch of books. I heard Books a Million might be interested, and that wouldn't be bad. I think Charles County is in the dark ages.
ReplyDeleteWell in instances where you have to travel alot, yes they are a great thing to have. When it comes to reading bedtime stores to my children, a great colorful book will never be replaced.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do hope things like that don't go away. I worked in a used bookstore during high school and I would hope to see places like Ellie's paperback shack stay around.

ReplyDeleteWashington Business Journal reported today that the deal for Books a Million to buy the Borders stores in Waldorf, Columbia and Woodbridge have failed. Wonder if Barnes and Nobles would consider moving into the Waldorf location?
